Adult Diagnostic Program

A comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment for adults seeking neuroaffirming clinically valid support.

Seeking an adult diagnosis can be a significant and emotional step. For many people, it is not about wanting a label. It is about finally understanding why life has felt harder than it looked from the outside. At its best, assessment helps adults stop fighting themselves and start working with their own mind more intelligently. Ultivate Psychological Health offers this process with clinical care, curiosity, and respect for the whole person.

Who this package is for

This package is designed for adults who may be experiencing:

  • Long-standing difficulties with attention, organisation, planning, procrastination, or task completion

  • Emotional overwhelm, shutdown, sensitivity, burnout, or nervous system dysregulation

  • Social exhaustion, masking, relational confusion, or difficulty reading social expectations

  • Sensory sensitivities, rigidity, perfectionism, or difficulty with transitions

  • Chronic work stress, underperformance despite ability, or repeated burnout cycles

  • A history of feeling “different,” misunderstood, too intense, too sensitive, or not able to function in the same way as others

  • Questions about adult ADHD, autism, trauma, anxiety, or personality-related patterns

  • A need for formal documentation to support treatment planning, work accommodations, study supports, or referral pathways

This assessment may also be useful for high-performing professionals who have learned to compensate for years but are now finding that their old coping strategies no longer work.

What the package includes

Clinical intake consultation (75 Minutes - $395)

A structured clinical interview to understand your presenting concerns, developmental history, mental health history, work and study patterns, relationships, health factors, strengths, and current functional difficulties. This session helps clarify the key assessment questions and whether diagnostic assessment is clinically appropriate.

Developmental and functional history review

Adult diagnosis requires more than current symptoms. We explore how patterns have

shown up across your life, including childhood, schooling, family context, friendships, work, relationships, health, and major life transitions. Where appropriate, you may be invited to provide school reports, previous assessments, medical information, or collateral information from someone who knows you well.

Diagnostic and clinical assessment process (60 Minutes - $330)

The assessment process may include screening and psychometric tools relevant to your presentation. Depending on clinical need, this may include assessment of:

  • ADHD traits and executive functioning

  • Autism-related traits and sensory-social patterns

  • Anxiety, mood, stress, and burnout symptoms

  • Trauma-related effects and nervous system cues

  • Emotional regulation and interpersonal patterns

  • Personality factors and psychological strengths

  • Functional impact across work, study, relationships, self-care, an daily life

The assessment is tailored to the individual rather than treated as a one-size-fits-all process.

Clinical formulation

A diagnosis can be useful, but formulation is often where the real value sits.

Your formulation brings together the assessment findings into a clear clinical picture. It helps differentiate between what may be related to neurodevelopmental differences, trauma, anxiety, burnout, personality, environmental mismatch, health factors, or learned coping strategies. This is especially important for adults with complex presentations, high ability, chronic masking, or years of compensating.

Feedback consultation (60 Minutes - $330)

You will receive a feedback session where findings are explained clearly and respectfully.

This includes discussion of:

  • Whether diagnostic criteria appear to be met

  • What the findings mean in real life

  • Your strengths and protective factors

  • Areas that may require support, modification, or accommodation

  • Recommendations for work, study, therapy, relationships, and daily functioning

  • Whether further medical, psychiatric, occupational therapy, or allied health referral is recommended

The feedback session is designed to help you leave with clarity, not confusion.

Written clinical report (120 Minutes - $660)

You will receive a written report summarising the assessment process, clinical impressions, relevant findings, diagnostic considerations, and recommendations.

The report may include:

  • Presenting concerns

  • Relevant developmental and psychosocial history

  • Assessment tools used

  • Clinical observations

  • Diagnostic formulation

  • Functional impacts

  • Strengths and support needs

  • Practical recommendations

  • Suggested accommodations or treatment pathways, where appropriate

The report can support treatment planning and may assist with discussions with GPs, psychiatrists, allied health practitioners, employers, universities, or other relevant supports.

A good assessment should help separate character from capacity, behaviour from need, and modifiable patterns from genuine support requirements.

What makes an Ultivate assessment different

We consider the person’s vocational health, occupational history, developmental story, nervous system, personality, relational environment, work demands, coping strategies, cultural context, strengths, and professional aspirations. Many adults seeking diagnosis have lived for years with shame, confusion, self-criticism, or the belief that they are simply not trying hard enough.

The aim is to help you understand:

  • What can be strengthened

  • What can be modified

  • What needs to be accommodated

  • What needs clinical treatment

  • What may simply be part of your natural cognitive or sensory style

Possible outcomes of the assessment

Following assessment, outcomes may include:

  • A formal diagnosis, where criteria are met

  • Identification of clinically significant traits without a formal diagnosis

  • An understanding of trauma, burnout, personality, or stress-related patterns

  • Recommendations for further assessment or referral

  • A clinical formulation for therapy, work accommodations, or self-management

  • An action plan for daily functioning, emotional regulation, and quality of life

Not every assessment leads to a diagnosis. That does not mean the assessment has failed. Sometimes the most useful outcome is a more accurate understanding of what is really happening.
